Times Law Awards 2023 Essay Competition

Sponsored by One Essex Court, this well-established competition launched at the end of last year. It is open to all students registered with UK higher education institutes, pupil barristers and trainee solicitors. You just need to write no more than 1000 words addressing the following question by the deadline: midday on Monday 16 January 2023.

Should states and private parties be entitled to recover reparations from Aggressor states, and if so, how?

Need a bit more encouragement to get writing? Here’s what the organisers say:

With more than £10,000 of prizes on offer to the six finalists and the prospect of having their
entry read by senior members of the judiciary, as well as the editor of The Times, this is an
opportunity for student commentators to tackle one of the most critical issues of our time.

You can find more information including the rules on the OEC website.

Don’t forget about the PBA essay competition too! (We did post about this one in early December) Deadline is 9th January 2023. Perfect for those budding property lawyers amongst you. More details found on the PBA website.
