Moot News: Kingsland Cup Deadline Approaching…
For those of you who are looking for a late chance to moot competitively this academic year, the 2021/22 iteration of the Kingsland Cup and Prize Moot is up and running. You’ll have received communications about this already but this is a last-minute reminder that the deadline for entries is 4pm on 22 December 2021.
The moot problem and other information for those interested in entering the moot are available on the Francis Taylor Building website . The moot rules have been updated and minor modifications have been made since last year, so teams should carefully familiarise themselves with the rules at the outset.
Last year, FTB offered mini-pupillages, a cash prize, and a book prize sponsored by Bloomsbury Professional to the winning team. Prizes were also offered to the unsuccessful finalists.
Unlike other competitions organised by sets of chambers, FTB strongly encourage as many entries as possible, and there is no limit on the number of teams that may enter from the same institution.
In terms of the schedule for the rest of the moot, second round moots will likely take place in March, and third round moots in the summer or early autumn.
City have seen some fantastic performances from our students in this competition, with Lois Lane and Tom Lambert winning in 2020/21, Natalie Nguyen and Nicholas Jones runners-up in 2019/20, Jessica Allen and Richard Mahal winning in 2018/19, Harriet Fitzsimons and Sarah-Jane Ewart winning in 2016/17 and Esther Drabkin-Reiter and Ryan Ferro winning in 2015/16.
