LLB1 student Rahaf Ramdhan has won the OUP Essentials of Criminal Law competition we highlighted earlier in the academic year.

Entrants were asked to create a video of 3 minutes on one of six criminal law topics. Excitingly, the competition was judged by John Child and David Ormerod, authors of Smith, Hogan, and Ormerod’s Essentials of Criminal Law, who were looking for the best video explaining a key concept of criminal law.

Rahaf’s entry showed real creativity and innovation in how she explained the relevant law. OUP had this to say:

The judges thoroughly enjoyed the creativeness that Rahaf displayed in the video. By animating the video through drawings, Rahaf produced a unique insight into the topic of omissions.

Rahaf won lunch at Oxford University Press’s exclusive in-house Printer’s House Restaurant with the judges; a signed copy of all three Smith, Hogan, and Ormerod books and £200 of OUP book vouchers. She says:

Winning this competition came as a great surprise! I’m very glad to use both my creative skills and legal knowledge to produce a project that informs and entertains people who share my interest in criminal law. I’m very honoured to represent the City Law School in this competition and winning made me treasure all the help and guidance that I have received from my professors and lecturers at City, University of London.
