In celebration of International Women’s Day, the EDI team within the Law School is organising a poetry competition! Submissions are invited for a short poem, up to 300 words, on the theme of Women and the Law by 30th March.

Poets can draw on this broad theme to focus their submissions on the relationship between women, understood inclusively to encompass transwomen and non-binary femmes, and the law – whether as professionals, students, teachers, or activists! Ultimately the judges are looking for an original, creative, and authentic composition that reflects the diversity of lived experience in relation to the role of law in our lives.
The competition is open to all, and both students and staff are encouraged to send their submissions to Dr Sabrina Germain (Associate Dean EDI).
Two student finalists and one staff finalist will be announced in the final week of the Spring Term and receive one of the following exciting prizes:
- A copy of the poetry anthology Diverse Voices: The Poetry of Human Rights and the Pursuit of Peace
- A subscription to Mslexia Magazine
- A copy of a book by Julia Cameron: The Artists Way
We are excited to receive your submissions and read poems that showcase the global cultural diversity of our school.
