Amicus death penalty training available in October 2024
Amicus runs a comprehensive bi-annual training programme in US capital defence law and procedure, legal research, evidence and professional conduct. Training is split over two weekends: one theoretical, and one practical. The training includes sessions on jury selection, the historical foundations of the death penalty, racial bias, and interviewing witnesses, among many other sessions. It is attended by approximately 400 participants each year, students and practitioners alike. As an attendee you will be joined in person by an outstanding array of practitioners from Atlanta and Florida (including Shayla Galloway and Christy Dickerson), who will share their knowledge and first-hand experiences with our attendees.
If you are interested in attending, you can secure your place here or by emailing Diana Rescaldani, Casework & Operations Manager. Note, you do not need to be a member of Amicus to attend, all welcome! The dates have been set for:
– Friday, 11 October evening: introductory evening
– Saturday, 12 and Sunday, 13 October: theoretical weekend
– Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 October: practical weekend
The sessions will be hosted in-person at Linklaters (One Silk St, London EC2Y 8HQ), with the option to join remotely for those who are unable to make it in person.
As an Amicus affiliate university, City students can purchase a ticket for the full two training sessions for a discounted price of £55 per person.
