Another week goes by and another 2 writing competitions are unleashed on the world!
vLex International Law and Technology Writing Competition
First up, the vLex competition. Here, students are asked to write a 1000 words on one of three themes, all in the context of law and technology. Themes for 2023 are:
- Immigration
- Large language models
- Industrial action
The winner wins £1500 and there are also prizes for runners-up. Check out examples of winning work from previous years on the vLex blog, but be sure to read through the rules and guidance on the competition website. This is an exciting competition that gives you the chance to compete against students from all over the world, make sure you register in good time.
The deadline for submissions is 1st December 2023.
Vardags Inaugural Family Law Essay Competition
Vardags (family law firm specialising in high net worth, international and complex cases) have launched a brand-new competition with a generous prize pot of £3,500!
Entrants are asked to write an essay, no longer than 3,000 words on a contemporary topic of your choosing related to family law in England & Wales.
Note the essay must include a word count at the foot of the essay. The bibliography and any footnotes of fewer than 25 words will not be included in the word count.
You must send your essay from your university email address.

The prizes are excellent!
The winner will receive £2,000, in addition to a one-to-one with Vardags Founder and President, Ayesha Vardag. There will additionally be £1,000 and £500 prizes for 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
